So a few years ago I was recommended Bleecker’s burgers by colleagues. And when I tried it I wasn’t as impressed as everyone hyped it to be, sure the meat was good but everything else wasn’t there. You can check my previous review, it was 7/10. In 2020 Bleecker won the UK national burger award (which I found out after I ate the burger) with their double cheeseburger, so I was pretty lucky with picking it for dinner.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 9.5/10
This is a burger that celebrates simplicity and classic flavours. I loved it, I can’t find much fault with it and the only reason it isn’t a 10 is I didn’t have that soulful moment I have with the burgers I rate 10/10. Maybe if I get it fresh once lockdown finished it will be a different story.
The burger had:
- 2x 40-day aged Beef Patties
- American Cheese
- Sauce
- Onion
- White Sesame Bun
The patties were amazing. You have that flavourful fatty cut. They were very juicy and had that tasty char you want on the top of your patties. The seasoning was just right. You can put those patties on any burger and it will immediately be a 7… What makes a good patty great is that depth of the flavour which many burger places are missing and this was done just right.
The cheese was a classic American cheese. It was present in every bite, very nicely melted and with plenty of flavour. A double cheeseburger almost always has such a better cheese presence compared to a regular cheeseburger.
The onions were great and on point. They provided that right level of acidity and sweetness, very reminiscent of the classic burgers you have grown up with ( mostly McDonald’s). It is a great topping that you just need to make sure you have put plenty of so there is the right kind of balance.
The sauce was good, it was for sure a classic burger sauce but I couldn’t really round it up. It was there in the essence and flavour in the burger but wasn’t distinct, maybe that was the soul piece that was missing for this burger to be a 10. The juices and the sauces were enough to make the bottom bit of the bun get a bit soggy. But I’m a bit more forgiving these days about that considering it is delivered.
Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 4/10
To be honest, the variety of sides and drinks isn’t the best, and for the size of the burgers, they are a bit pricy. The fries are decent but the toppings make them what they are.
Quirkiness level of the experience? – 2/10
Just burgers, nothing more, nothing less
