Beer and Burger was a recent recommendation by a good friend of mine who is also a foodie. So you can imagine when my burger review list was free, I was pretty happy to grab one of those. Sadly I’m doing keto, so I couldn’t get a beer with it; a burger was big enough of a cheat already!

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 9.5/10

I’m very sure we have passed the trend of gourmet burgers, and now we are striving to perfect the classic recipes and bring that OG flavour back on the table. This was an awesome classic recipe.

The burger had:

  • Two smashed aged beef patties.
  • American cheese
  • Maple-cured bacon
  • Gherkins
  • Chopped onion
  • Special goop sauce.
  • Burger Bun

I love smashed patties. And these weren’t very smashed, which meant they could get the flavourful crust from the smashing, but it was still juicy and flavourful. The beef was of good quality; it had a chunkier grind; I really liked that the cut, it was fatty, and the flavour was present in every bite: really good patties all and all. The bacon was crispy but not dry and quite tasty. I loved it, and it contributed the right amount of sweetness to the overall recipe.

The cheese was good. It was classic American cheese that melted very well and brought that classic cheeseburger flavour to the table. I liked it, but I would have loved more of it. It was, for sure, missing from some of the bites. The burger brought these diner-style vibes in a good way.

I think the relish is where this burger shined really well. Both the gherkins and the chopped onion gave that amazing acidity to contrast the beef, cheese and sauce. They brought balance to the bites. It was also very reminiscent of the McDonalds pickle flavour. I think this is a really good example of how two simple popular ingredients used in the right way with the right intensity can round up a burger easily.

The sauce I liked a lot. It was really good on its own, but its flavour profile wasn’t present in every bite, and I would have preferred a tiny bit more of it to round it up. It didn’t drip, and the bun wasn’t soggy from it, which was great. Talking about the bun, I was happy to see a fresh, sweet and fluffy classic burger bun, very delicious indeed. It was moist on the inside slightly toasted on the outside. Honestly, with few tweaks in the proportions, this could easily go for 10/10

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 9/10

I got the chicken wings and the coleslaw as sides. The chicken wings were very good and stupidly cheap for the amount you get. The coleslaw was nice, but it became nicer after a squish of lime.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 3/10

Nothing special or quirky about the burger. But it isn’t every day you eat a gorgeous patty.
