This is my second experience with Lawless city burger and I’m very impressed with the local burger joint. They for sure have space to grow and they do a lot of things right. They are straying away from the gourmet burgers and going for more dirty/diner/junk-food style burgers and it is working out very well. Quite tasty and I think I’ll be ordering another one soon.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 8.5/10

The Outlaw’s Duty is a very meaty and saucy burger and this just hits a spot for me.

The burger had:

• 2x Smashed Beef Patties
• Swiss Cheese
• Tomatoes
• Mushrooms
• Housemade Mob Mushroom Sauce
• Aioli
• Potato Bun

The smashed patties were well executed. The meat was of very good quality and was nice and fatty. The patty was supposed to be smashed but was more on the borderline in my opinion. It was still juicy in the middle but it didn’t have the flavourful burned crust on the outside. Nonetheless, it had developed a really good flavour. My only critique is it needed a tiny bit more seasoning to make it great.

Swiss cheese is such a good choice for a burger. It has a very nice depth of flavour that compliments the beef and in this case the mushroom flavours as well. It melted nicely and was present in every bite.

The sauces were truly the centrepiece of the whole burger. The creamy mushroom flavour popped in every bite and complimented the beef and cheese in a great way. There was a lot of depth in flavour and it was very well seasoned. I really really liked this sauce. I think the aioli provided more body to the sauce but I’m not entirely sure for its purpose. The tomato provided a very distinct, slightly fresh and acidic bite to the rest of the ingredients and it helped balance that flavour. Even though it wasn’t the top quality it was good enough!

The bun was again the weakest part of the burger. Especially with all the sauces, it got quite soggy. It is great I eat the burger quickly otherwise I think it would have dissolved.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? –  5/10

Tried the loaded fries, they were very tasty but it was more the loading than the fries if you get what I mean.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 7/10

Interesting recipe. A fun saucy experience and a tasty take on mushrooms.
