As you can frequently expect from me, a burger joint review is followed by a second one. My sidekick went for the buttermilk fried chicken burger, which sounded great on paper. It was a tiny bit better. However, I’m sad to say that even the simpler recipe (compared to the previous ) was disappointing. Wicked burgers, you have to work on your execution game!

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 5.5/10
This is a straightforward burger recipe that should rely almost entirely on execution. There is nothing mystical about the recipe except for the sauce.
The burger had:
- Buttermilk Fried Chicken
- American Cheese
- Lettuce
- Sauce
- Brioche
The chicken was a bit underwhelming. It was cooked, OK and it wasn’t dry. I was expecting a crunchier crust and insides melting in your mouth. What I got was a basic panko crust and not very flavourful chicken. The breast size was huge, which doesn’t speak well of the quality of the meat. I have great examples of good and tasty chicken burgers, but the execution is everything. Using the breast instead of the darker meat of the chicken also didn’t help with the flavour.
The American cheese was felt through the bites as the rest of the ingredients didn’t stand on their own. Although I would have preferred either no cheese or double down. Chicken burger and cheese is a delicate combination to pull off; it is quite easy to make it useless or overpowering.
The “sauce” was less spicy buffalo style sauce + basic mayo and not good off the shelf mayo… the basic ones. Quite runny and all over the burger. Higher quality mayo but less would have done a lot for the burger. The buffalo side was decent but didn’t have the depth of flavour you want from it. The lettuce leaf was sliding out, and you know how I feel about non-shredded lettuce. Also, it should have been more to provide extra texture and contrast to the chicken.
The brioche was quite nice, it held a large amount of mayo and wasn’t drenched like the previous one.
Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 5/10
The fries that came were pretty good but nothing spectacular I did like the fact that they are chunkier than regular fries.
Quirkiness level of the experience? – 2/10
Nothing special or quirky about the burger
