We start 2021 with a chicken burger from Wicked Burgers. Apparently, their chicken burgers are supposed to be better than their beef counterparts. You can check my previous review on Wicked Burgers here. I haven’t had a chicken burger in a while in the reviews. The truth is I don’t thin chicken burgers are truly burgers unless it is made of minced chicken but it is culturally accepted and liked so I’m adding them from time to time.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 4.5/10
This is sadly a good example of “just put stuff together” burger.
The burger had:
- Jerk Chicken
- Caramelised Pineapple
- Lettuce
- BBQ Sauce
- Mayo
- Brioche
The chicken was a bit “eh” and it had nothing in common with the description. It wasn’t dry which was nice but was quite bland for Caribbean style food. Jerk chicken can be incredibly flavourful when prepared correctly. I think the chicken wasn’t grilled properly and was mostly cooked “steamed”. The size of the chicken breast didn’t put much faith into the quality of the chicken either but you can make almost any chicken taste well with the right spices and cooking technique. Grilled chicken should fall off, it wasn’t badly cooked but it could have been so much better. Also, the amount of chicken made the burger very filling but quite difficult to eat.
The caramelised pineapple was the accent and twist for the burger. I believe it is a very good idea and I think it would go amazing with the jerk flavours if they were more present. The pineapple was providing much more flavour compared to the chicken and overpowering it from time to time. The sweetness didn’t gel too well with the enormous amount of mayo. Talking about the mayo… come on, put less and make it quality. This was definitely below Heinz/Hellmans quality mayo. The BBQ sauce was also too much and kind of made everything even messier.
The lettuce was very little and drenched in mayo so I didn’t see the purpose for it. The bun ended up breaking down and didn’t help with the whole “burger” experience.
Generally, the burger had good ideas but poor execution. It wasn’t horrible but I was expecting at least a bit more.
Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 5/10
The fries that came were pretty good but nothing spectacular I did like the fact that they are chunkier than regular fries.
Quirkiness level of the experience? – 7/10
That pineapple had a very good intention but I don’t think it worked out.
