Boro Bistro is a hidden gem right below London Bridge. It is one of those places which I have glanced but never went to and now I’m sorry.  This is a French bistro that is very cosy and has great cuisine from what I tasted. I didn’t go with the expectation to have a burger, but boy… I was not disappointed! I have had French-style burgers in Hache and they were good but not that good. It’s a10/10 ladies and gentlemen!

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 10/10

The balance of the burger is stunning and it has happened because all the ingredients are quality and are doing their job

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty
  • Comte Cheese
  • Tomato
  • Mix Salad
  • Burger Sauce
  • Brioche

The chef in Boro Bistro made the patty absolutely delicious. The meat was leaner than I usually recommend but it worked so well, it was more delicate but neither of the ingredients overpowered it. The flavour was enhanced by the peppercorn. It immediately reminded me of a classic French steak with peppercorn sauce but in the package and simplicity of a burger. A really great execution that fitted the recipe perfectly.

I have never had Comte cheese on a burger before. I didn’t know it melts so blissfully. It is very milky in flavour and creamy in texture but it worked really nice. It reminds you of brie but it melts much better. There was plenty on the burger, if they had put less it wasn’t going to be as good. It wasn’t shadowing the patty but played in a great way with the salad and sauce.

The tomato was fresh and juicy and had plenty of flavour, which wasn’t something I was expecting in the middle of winter in London. The salad was enough to provide both a crunch and freshness to cleanse the pallet and reset the bite. It could have been a bit more but even then, it was felt through every mouthful.

The burger sauce was something I didn’t expect since it wasn’t even mentioned in the menu. It had a mayo base that combined well with the tomato flavours but it had a lot of other intensity similar to harissa but I can’t really put my finger on it. What I can say is it brought the burger together. The cheese, tomato and sauce supported the beef throughout every bite and that is exactly what you want from a burger sauce.

The brioche was firm yet fluffy. It was toasted and had that springy feel. It was more neutral than sweet which just complimented the whole thing. It was a great burger holder that wasn’t soggy and helped you catch all the flavours.

A really nice surprise. A delicious 10/10 burger from Boro Bistro and a great way to end the reviews for 2020!

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 10/10

On top of the amazing burger, I have to say these are some of the best chicken wings I have tried and the fries are very good as well. You have a nice choice of draft Belgian beer to compliment it all.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 6/10

There isn’t something too quirky about the burger except for the cheese. It had a very classic feel.
