I think that in the last few weeks I have been alienating my London audience since I have been spamming burgers from Bulgaria and elsewhere. So I decided to have a burger and break it up a bit ( I still have a few more reviews from Bulgaria left). This time I went for a very safe delivery choice – Honest Burgers. I have had plenty of their burgers and I’m generally pretty happy with them. I would say from the popular gourmet burger joints they maintain the highest average score. I also decided to go for the last burger on the menu I haven’t tried.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 9/10

With time my burger taste has evolved and I have started to also enjoy more simple burgers also. And the Beef is very simple in its recipe which leaves everything to the execution. The burger had:

  • Beef Patty
  • Red Onion Relish
  • Lettuce

Now if you check my previous Honest burger reviews, you will see that I always complain about the same thing – unseasoned patties. Quality meat doesn’t mean instant flavour and you need to season it well to pull out that beefy juicy goodness. Well, the Beef burger is doing that great. This is one of the best patties I have had from Honest and pretty good overall. It was juicy, with a good amount of caramelization and char. It had enough salt and pepper to pop the flavour snd it balanced out with the rest of the ingredients. It didn’t blow me away with flavour but it was just right The red onion relish (which basically felt like chutney but maybe not as sweet) was lovely. It had plenty of flavours – a lot of sweet to go with the charred patty, that classic caramelized onion flavour that we like on meat. It wasn’t too much or too little. It was the other accent present in every bite and I think Honest did a good job. The salad is where the burger needs a bit more… literally. Normally Honest burgers execute well on their burger condiments but this time I would have loved  2x – 3x times more lettuce. It was noticed gently only in few of the bites. In the same time, I’m pretty sure there was some fresh onion in the shredded lettuce (thank you) that have that kick of acidity and I liked a lot. The salad was a great pallet cleanser and balanced out the chutney and beef in a great way. Putting more to be felt through every bite would fit the flavour profile perfectly. The brioche was good. Soft and spongey. There weren’t too many sauces so it didn’t go soggy but I would have liked a bit more of a toast

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 7/10

I swear to got Honest has some of the best fries. They are crispy and full of flavour. Quite well balanced with the rosemary and are very easy to inhale.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 3/10

Nothing quirky except for the fact burger places don’t do as simple burgers
