Corner burgers are one of the most popular spots in Varna for burgers and last time I was there I enjoyed it but I wasn’t lightning struck. This time my opinion has changed. I also met with the local burger legend @burgmeon who made a guest review recently and has been exploring the Bulgarian burger scene. Check him out! This is the second burger I had at Corner burgers, it wasn’t as good as the previous one though.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 6.5/10

You guys know I like burgers with some cultural influence. Now this wasn’t taken to the extreme or embracing full its Mexican style but it had the direction. Some things worked very well and some were a bit of a miss.

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty
  • Cheddar
  • Spicy Guacamole
  • Nachos
  • Cream Cheese sauce
  • Tomato
  • Red Onion
  • Lettuce
  • Chilli sauce
  • Brioche

The meat was good quality from a nice fatty cut. The flavour was there, it was delicious and went well with the rest of the ingredients. There weren’t any dominating flavours so that helped the beef shine through. The patty wasn’t as good as the smashed burger patties I had previously at Corner. Not sure if it was the crust or the fact that seasoning was lacking but a decent patty in general.

The fact that there were two pieces of cheddar helped bring the flavour of the cheese through. I think this should be the standard for every thicker burger patty. It had that classic cheeseburger flavour that went well with the rest of the ingredients. The cream cheese was there more for the sauce and the simulation of creme fraiche but I don’t think it worked.

The guacamole was a bit of a disappointment. It was neither the right consistency (way too liquidy), no chunks, flavour of the avocado was a bit lost and it wasn’t spicy at all. All the key ingredients like the onion and the tomato were out of it but they simply dominated over the flavour. The chilli sauce was very mild and present either so thank god for the good tomato and onion to save the day. Lettuce was nicely chopped and added good texture to the bite.

The brioche was good – bouncy, fresh and nicely toasted. Few changes and this can be a great burger.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 9/10

Flavourful fries, amazing hot sauces that are going to blow your brains our and more and good draft beer to quench your thirst, a burger joint that has it all

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 8/10

It is for sure one of the more interesting burgers I have had recently. You don’t get Mexican influence in burgers frequently enough and although it could have been better this was a pretty good burger.
