I like the fact that the delivery services expand their range so I don’t have to go out to experience new burgers. Although I will do that soon I promise. And this time Wicked burgers popped on my radar and since I have had recommendations for them by readers of the blog I decided to give them a go.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 4.5/10

Sad to see such a well-executed patty in such a bad combination of condiments.

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty
  • American cheese
  • Tomato
  • Lettuce
  • House Sauce
  • Gherkins
  • BBQ Salsa
  • Caramelised Onions
  • Brioche

So Wicked burgers managed to get the most difficult thing right, the patty. The meat was full of flavour, well spiced, well cooked, very juicy, great char that accented the beef and was delicious. It is for sure one of the top patties I have tried and I’m very sad to see it in a burger that isn’t as great as it could be.

The cheese is where things start moving downhill for the burger. Yes it is present in some bites but isn’t really much of a factor. A second slice would have done a big difference or the use of a stronger cheese.

The salad combination was not bad but everything was overpowered by the sauce, even the tasty tasty gherkins. There wasn’t much lettuce, but at least it was shredded. A bit more would have gone a long way. There was a tomato but it clashed with the BBQ salsa and had no impact.

Now the salsa is where everything crumbles. When you are doing a salsa based sauce please don’t use a watered down tomato pure. This was the general dominating flavour throughout every single bite. There was no balance or space for other ingredients to shine. That typical watered down tomato puree flavour really broke me and the burger. There was also a house sauce but I didn’t notice it.

The brioche was very good. It was nicely toasted, soft on the squeeze and had a lovely sweetness to it.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 5/10

The fries that came were pretty good but nothing spectacular I did like the fact that they are chunkier than regular fries.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 3/10

Nothing really quirky. An interesting sauce, however that failed too badly IMO.
