I was really excited to try another burger from Mammoth burgers. I wanted to see to what extent is the meat flavour influenced by the bacon in the previous burger, so this time I ordered without any. Sadly I also didn’t get my tomato slice that I loved so much in the previous one
How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 7.5/10
I don’t usually miss a fruit from a recipe, but this is one of the cases; and no… I’m not talking about bacon.
The burger had:
- Beef Patty
- Cheddar Cheese
- Fresh Onion
- Soft Bun with Pork Floss
Let’s talk about meat. It was good. Again the patty was of decent quality and with an excellent fatty cut; however, as I mentioned in the previous review, more char and flavour could have come out of the beef. I think the bacon gave saltiness and helped shape the beef flavour in the previous one. So the lack of flavour was for sure more evident in this one.
Few more salt and pepper, a bit more time on the grill and it could get there.
The cheese was delicious again! A perfect balance between meat and cheese. The cheddar flavour was present in every bite. It was fatty and salty the right way and had that slight nutty finish.
The salad was underwhelming this time. The lettuce was shredded but not enough to be present in the bites. I would have preferred more or either remove entirely. The fresh onions had the right balance of flavour and acidity. It wasn’t overwhelming and of the bites but provided that kick to the bite. The burger was supposed to have a tomato but was missing, and it was felt through the flavour. The mayo and tomato added the right amount of sauciness and sweet taste that was missing this time around.
The bun was great as usual. The pork floss is a killer for sure. It provided the right amount of saltiness and texture to round up the burger.
Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 7/10
I really liked the fries! They were full of flavour and were the right amount of greasy. Weren’t salted but nothing a pinch couldn’t fix.
Quirkiness level of the experience? – 10/10
I have eaten a lot of burgers and a lot of food, and this is the first time I have seen pork floss being used. It provided interesting texture and flavour to the whole experience and was a very unique take on a classic bun!
