Mammoth Burger is a small gem that happens to deliver to my place. I was very surprised by the burger. It has an interesting characteristic that I haven’t seen anywhere – pork floss on the bun… and it works! It is for sure a burger you should try in the Eastern part of London!

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 9/10

Rarely I haven’t had many quirky experiences but this is for sure one of the strangers burgers have had in the last few months. I loved in and the score reflects it. A few changes and this could be a 10!

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty
  • Bacon
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Fresh Onion
  • Pickles
  • Mayo
  • Soft Bun with Pork Floss

You have meat flavours coming from so many places! The patty, the bacon the floss and everything goes well together. The meat was of good quality, nice fatty cut. (Recently I have been having a quite positive experience with patties) The flavour was there but I would have wanted a bit more char. I liked the purist approach but a bit more flavour from the grilling would have been perfect. The bacon was tasty and exactly how I like it. Not too chewy not too crispy! The floss added texture and lingered the flavour similar to what crushed crackling would bring but a bit more delicate.

This is one of the few burgers that get a particularly good balance between meat and cheese. The cheddar was present in every bite. It gave out that signature nuttiness and wasn’t masking anything it worked with everything and was very tasty. The right amount of cheese is one of the more difficult things to get right in a burger and I was very happy with the result!

Holy sh*t! I’m so happy to see a good quality tomato in a burger. This is such a rarity, especially in the UK. A lot of burger joints underappreciate the flavour coming from a top-notch tomato. A tomato with mayo and cheese makes for a very tasty combination which was nicely prevalent in the bites. The pickles also hit the right spot. They were crunchy, acidic and sweet and slid in the whole experience perfectly. A very good example of how the salad can be used effectively in a burger. Lettuce was there but kind of lingering, it should have had more or non at all, thank God it was shredded! The onion is one of my few critiques of the burger. I don’t mind the rawness but the piece was too big which meant in the bites it was present it overwhelmed everything else. Finely diced with the pickles it could have been perfect…

A centrepiece for the burger is the bun for sure! The floss was a quite interesting twist and gave a lot of character to the burger both visually and in terms of flavour. The texture was interesting and made the bites feel softer. The bun was soft and nicely toasted. I

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 7/10

I really liked the fries! They were full of flavour and were the right amount of greasy. Weren’t salted but nothing a pinch couldn’t fix.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 10/10

I have eaten a lot of burgers and a lot of food and this is the first time I have seen pork floss being used. It provided interesting texture and flavour to the whole experience and was a very unique take on a classic bun!
