Black Bear Burgers is one of the top burger joints in London IMO so seeing it available in my area for delivery meant I had to give it a try. Especially since they have a new burger!
How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 7/10
Black Bear Burgers keeps that pure version of a burger that doesn’t joke around with salad and gives you good burger with cheese and sauce.
The burger had:
- Aged beef patty
- Blue Cheese Sauce
- Sesame Bun
The quality of the meat for sure is the star in the Black Bear burgers. The meat is juicy, well cooked and full of flavour. The fatty cut and good seasoning push the beefiness to the front of the bite and It combines well with the rest of the ingredients. Bacon compliments the beef flavourwise but I would have preferred it cooked differently. The bacon is too chewy and trying to be crispy but I don’t think it is adding the right texture. Bacon is tricky to get and the previous time I tried a Black Bear burger it was better.
The separate cheese wasn’t a big factor. It was melted on the patty but you could barely see it and there was no taste from it. The blue cheese sauce was overpowering the rest of the ingredients and was hiding the regular cheese. I think the regular cheese was obsolete. The blue cheese sauce was tasty and full of flavour. It brought the bacon, beef and onions together very well but it was a bit more salty for my taste.
The onions were a great addition to the recipe. It went well with everything. It provided acidity and combined greatly with the beef and blue cheese. I would have loved even a bit more just so that you can have more contrast in the bites. Non the less very tasty
The sesame bun was firm, it held the sauce and was lightly toasted.
Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 5/10
The fries were very good. They were slightly chunky, well seasoned and came with good tasty mayo. Loved it!
Quirkiness level of the experience? – 4/10
Blue cheese sauce isn’t a popular cheese sauce on burger but I do appreciated because if done well i think it is great
