Another week of quarantine another delivered Burger. I have had plenty of new burger joints pop on my Deliveroo and Uber Eats. This week we are doing Bun-believable. The menu looked fun and so did the images, although they had nothing to do with the burgers.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 8/10

This is the best McDonald’s tasting burger I’ve ever had. This hit the nostalgia spot just right and build on top of it. Even the fries had a McDonald’s like smell but weren’t a molecule away from plastic.

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty (2x I doubled it)
  • Cheese
  • Tomato
  • Lettuce
  • Gherkin
  • Mayo
  • White Bun

On the menu it was written that these are handmade patties, however they felled very machined. Perfect shape, very dense and I’m pretty sure they were stored frozen. The quality of the meat for sure wasn’t the best I have had. But boy wasn’t the beef tasty! It was very well spiced, incredibly juicy and full of flavour. You had a classic Easter European style grilled beef patty that hit the right note for me. The burger had a flavourful crust on the outside, you could taste that classic grilled flavour. It was so close to home for me I was going to phone them and ask if their grill guy isn’t an Eastern European. The whole patty also pushed that diner style burger experience. The best part is the second patty didn’t overwhelm the rest of the burger but simply added more meaty flavour, I was pretty impressed with that.

The processed cheese was flavourful, fit the profile of the burger and was present in every bite. I would have preferred a bit more but I guess the double patty broke the balance a tiny bit. With a single patty the cheddar was going to be right on the spot.

The salad was really good. The lettuce was tasty and fresh, providing a light crunch. The tomato was full of flavour but was way too little. When the tomato was present in the bite it was completing the full experience of the burger. Not sure why the slices were so thin but I would have wanted more. The gherkins were the last piece of the puzzle that gave the relish-ness of the whole experience.

My biggest gripe with the burger is the “Garlic Lovers” part which was very underrated. I didn’t  really feel much garlic and I think if there was garlic aioli instead of classic mayo the burger was going to be complete. Although I have to be honest a proper burger sauce was going to suit it better.

The bun was very fluffy but firm. Lightly toasted and very tasty. It was a great bun for the burger. I loved how almost every single ingredient embraced the identity of the burger.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 6/10

The fries were very tasty. They are one of the reason my whole meal had such a McDonalds feel, they had the smell but were much, much better. The whole flat had that signature smell after I opened the package and this is the kind of excitement you want from a meal.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 8/10

Everyone has that junk food nostalgia of your first bite of McDonalds. However every time you take a bite from a McD burger you feel… disappointed. The flavour is not really as your mind remembers it. But this is exactly what Bun Believable did, they brought that nostalgia burger experience, a rarity
