So in the wave of #supportlocalbusiness I had to order two burgers from the American Eclectic burger. The previous Beach Bum Burger was nice but it got few things wrong and I was hoping they were addressed better in their version of a classic burger – 3 Napkins. The strengths were the same but the weaknesses different

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 5.5/10

The burger embraced a very classic recipe. And considering the diner/junk food style burger it was a very good way to evaluate how good the burger joint is. If you can make a good classic burger you have all the baselines covered.

  • Beef Patty
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Red Onions
  • Pickles
  • Lettuce
  • Mayo
  • Brioche
The meat was executed well again. The patty was tasty it was cooked to well done but because of the fatty cut it was full of flavours and still juicy. I would have preferred either a medium patty that was juicier or a few more spices to compensate but non the less a pretty good execution. In combination with the tasty bacon the whole meat experience was good. The bacon was not from the crispy type which I honestly prefer it was full of flavour and complementing the beef in a great way.
One of the biggest misses of the burger was the cheese. A thin slice of cheddar when you have both beef and bacon gets lost very easily. The patty was thick and didn’t have the privilege of the double thin patty, double cheddar setup the previous burger did. Two slices would have done a much better job. Sadly this is a mistake I see way too frequently
The salad part was a bit of a disaster. The lettuce was full leaf, so whatever juices were present were halved… CAUSE THEY FUCKING DRIPPED AWAY! I can’t stress enough guys, how important is to shred your lettuce! The tomato was nice but you know that I’m spoiled when it comes to tomato quality. It was much better than your average UK burger joint but still there is more to ask. The pickles and red onions kind of patched up the situation but they weren’t as present as I hoped them to be. The acidity I was expecting wasn’t there.
Mayo was good amount but couldn’t remove as much from the dryness of the burger as I was hoping for (the lettuce didn’t help). The brioche was of good quality although it could have been fresher.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 4/10

Fries were mediocre but the coleslaw was great. It was fresh had chillies and provided the right amount of spicy and was very different to regular slaw

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 3/10

Nothing too quirky about the burger except for the Coleslaw!
