For a month now we have been in quarantine here in London, so I have continued my burger exploration via all the delivery options available. If you have favourite burger joints and you want to support them, consider ordering burgers from there #supportlocalbusiness ! So I went for one of the new local delivery only burger joints American Eclectic Burger. I had no idea what to expect so here it is

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 6/10

These are some classic, diner style, junk food burgers.  The one thing that was weird was that the burger was a bit different than what the recipe said. It was supposed to have BBQ sauce and crispy onions and it ended up with caramelized onions instead.

The burger had:

  • Beef patty
  • Bacon
  • Cheddar
  • Caramelized Onions
  • BBQ Sauce
  • Brioche

The patty was made from a nice fatty brikset cut. The meat was tasty but was a bit plain. It had a perfect feel for a junkfood style burger. The bacon was perfect IMO. It added complexity and much more flavour yet it didn’t dominate. One of the reasons was it was much more meaty than fatty and less crispy. The patty and bacon worked great together and made for a wholesome meat experience. A bit more juiciness and spice in the burger would have made it even better. I liked the double meat patty as there was more tasty grilled surface

The cheese was a bit lacking considering the double meat patty. You could feel it but it wasn’t an obvious presence in every bite. It had that classic processed cheese feel which went well with the junkfood feel of the burger.

The caramelized onions or crispy onions with a lot of BBQ (not sure which one is true) were a big miss for me. It was way to sweet, a bit of tangyness that wasn’t coming  from the onions. The onion flavour wasn’t present for long in the bite and overall it felt much more as a jam that was very sweet and had a hint of onion. This also overwhelmed the cheese. Thankfully it wasn’t masking the meatiness of the burger.

Bricohe was ok but I think the burger missed a more specific sauce other than BBQ/Caramelized onions

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 4/10

Fries were mediocre but the coleslaw was great. It was fresh had chillies and provided the right amount of spicy and was very different to regular slaw

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 3/10

Nothing too quirky about the burger except for the Coleslaw!
