Bread Meats Bread is the first place that got a 10/10 a few years ago. It was one of the best places for burgers in the UK. Although in my latest visits haven’t been on the top of my burger list I’m always curious to see what the state of BMB is. The Glasgow burger joint was full of people and had few new items on the menu I haven’t seen.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 7/10

This was for sure a very strange recipe and I wanted to give it a try. The burger was a big and heavy and pretty tasty.

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty
  • BBQ Beef Brisket
  • Scamorzo Cheese
  • Fired Onions
  • Spicy Beef Mayo
  • Pickles
  • Brioche

The burger patty was made of quality Scottish beef. It was very well spices bringing up the taste of the meat, especially when you try it on its own. It wasn’t the juciest I have tried but the flavour was there. My problem with the burger was the brisket. It was tasty and good but was entirely dominating the burger patty. The bites felt more as a brisket sandwitch rather than a burger. So far Black Bear Burger has been the only burger that has managed to balance brisket and patty correctly.

The cheese was the interesting part of the burger. If the patty was leaner and there weren’t dominating taste, I beleive that the smoky taste of the Scamorzo was going to be much more prominent. Combining it with the brisket and the rest of the strong flavours the cheese felt more like a classic mozarella and lacked any form of flavour or punch although on its own it was fine.

I loved the onions. They went great with the brisket and the meat. They added that distinguished sweetness that worked well with the sweetness from the BBQed brisket and highlighted the beef. The pickles were tasty but I would have preffered a bit for a bit more brightness in the bites.

The spicy beef mayo simply enchanced the beefy flavour and was a great sauce for the burger. I was expecting spiciness but the “spiciy” bit was lacking. It was full of flavour and went well with everything. The bun was nicely toasted, hold well and tasty.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 8/10

Bread Meats Bread is still a top burger joint. They have great sides, interesting choice of other food and nice drinks.

It is still one of the best places to get your mouth stuffed with good food.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 6//10

I haven’t seen the Scamorzo cheese in use anywhere and I beleive with a simpler burger it may end up being well highlighted
