I am a bit late with this review and it is of the second burger I tried in Mildred’s but I have a good reason for it… I got engaged! It is my better half that I almost always share burgers with and that is why I have the ability to try so many.

This burger looked interesting on the menu and it was the first time I’m trying chicken substitute so the expectations were set.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 7/10

My main issue with most vegetarian burgers I have tried is that they always try to emulate rather than finding their own path. Mildreds’ Polish – 9/10 was an exception as it did almost everything correctly

The burger had:

  • Teriyaki Chick’n
  • Shichimi Mayo
  • Cress
  • Pea Shoots
  • Cucumber
  • Pickled red onion
  • Brioche Bun

I have to admit that the Chick’n was very deceitful in the first bite. I honestly thought it was regular chicken. The teriyaki crust really helped form my initial opinion. The taste was close but overall through the next bites, the sponginess of the chick’n became much more evident and kind of killed the illusion. It was a pretty well-rounded experience especially with the teriyaki sauce it did set the expectations for the burger.

With so many greens, chick’n and teriyaki the whole burger had the vibes of a spring roll. The sweetness from the teriyaki was a bit too much and was dominating all the delicate flavours from the greens. All of them were completely shutting down the pickled red onion and end of the day it was a brioche spring roll.

Overall the burger was nice but the recipe wasn’t very well executed. You are balancing very delicate flavours and one thing off balance can tumble the entire burger. A bit more emphasis on greens, less teriyaki and a bit more of that Japanese mayo could make a big difference

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 9/10

It is a really stylish place with really good atmosphere if you want to get your vegetarian friend out for dinner I do recommend this place even if you are not coming for burgers.

The fries were absolutely brutal (in a good way). And they came with cream cheese dip which made crispy fries even better. I have had a lot of luck with chips in my recent burger visits and I’m just going to say it again, one of the best fries I have tried

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 9//10

The Chick’n that isn’t really a chicken has been a very interesting experience. I am impressed how far we are with meat substitute food but I don’t think it is enough for me at least. There is much more to the taste and texture that are further away but if you aren’t that much into meat and you want to be more eco friendly this might be a good way to do it.
