When life gives you a chance to try a second burger you take it. These are the benefits of going with your girlfriend to a burger joint. The previous burger I had in Cut and Grind was nicely executed and uber simple. The Keto looked fun and we decided to go for it and also be healthier.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 9/10

Even though it is a Keto burger and you expect a weird conglomeration of ingredients, it had a very Greek-inspired style. The recipe was exciting and very well executed. My main beef was with the bun.

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty
  • Rocket
  • Roasted Red Peppers
  • Pickles
  • Mayo
  • Low Carb Bun

Even though the patty was the same as the previous burger and there were more ingredients to mask it, I thought it was with much better execution. Also, when trying only the patty, it had much more flavour packed and partially I think it was due to the better crust it had. It was medium-well and packed much more flavour. Hands down it was one of the best patties I have tried, and I am not as big of a purist. The rest of the ingredients were light and just helped shape the flavour of the beef which I loved.

The fried halloumi had me in doubt when I saw it on paper, but I was quickly convinced otherwise. It is very easy to screw up the halloumi and make it rubbery. Frequently that is the case because it is simply reheated, but that wasn’t the case. The halloumi provided a substantial body, and its distinct flavour was not lost since it was in its own waters – peppers, rocket and pickles. It is one of the few times halloumi has worked out great on a burger.

The salads were amazing. I personally love the combi action of red peppers and pickles there is just so much flavour profile that is both sweet and sour, and when you put it on some meat, it rather compliments it. It resets the pallet nicely. Many times I’ve said that in my opinion, the rocket is the best green for a burger. It also goes well with the rest of the salad.

The bun was like a spongy pancake. It did an outstanding job of absorbing a lot from the flavours. I understand the concept, and I really like the idea. I enjoy it when chefs put constraints on themselves like “Keto” and try to push themselves in a specific direction. But the egginess of the bun kind of ruined it for me. It was a bit too much, and sometimes it was the finishing flavour within the bite which spoiled an explosion of great flavours.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 10/10

I absolutely loved the beer choice in the place. It wasn’t much, but it was well selected. They had a lot of wines for a burger place.
The chips were amazing. I went and grabbed an extra side just because I liked them so much. They had plenty of other options depending on your dietary requirements

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 8/10

Egg buns are weird.
