Hungry for a burger and in need of one for a review I went for a place close by to home. Dirty Bones is a nice American comfort food place so I was hoping for a good burger experience and I got it
How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 8/10
Sadly there are few places that I know that work with a different cuts of beef to provide that exceptional flavour and Dirty Bones is one of them and it works great. It is an art form I haven’t explored enough.
The burger had:
- 2x Beef Patty
- american cheese
- Seeded brioche
The meat was absolutely amazig. It was a combination of aged beef and brisket and the mince wasn’t a standard one so I believe they are combining the cuts inhouse. And it was absolutely delicious. The brisket was giving that fattyness while having the full meat feel of the dry aged beef. It could be a bit dry for some people but It was the center of a burger as it should be for any simple recipe. Great job!
The cheese could be felt among the bites there was a decent amount of it and was going well in combination with the gherkins and the meat. That typical american cheese really pushed that classic burger experience.
One of my critiques of the bureger were the red onions. They were fresh and tasty which also meant absolutely ovewhelming through some of the bites. There was balance in some of the bites but I think the onion was a bit too much,
The djoneese was a really nice addition as the mustard was adding that strange punch that was making your pallet brighter but it wasn’t in any well overwhelming due to the mayo. I’m going to use this in one of my own burgers
The brioche was fresh and soft and tasty though I would have prefered it lightly toasted to bring up the sesame seeds and bring a tiny bit more structrure to the burger.
All and all this was a really nice simple recipe that was well executed.
Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 6/10
The place has a lot of sides and a lot of options to go well with a burger. It is a place I’m coming back to for a different comfort food for sure.
Quirkiness level of the experience? – 5//10
There wasn’t anything quirtky about this except for a nicely executed classic burger, with really great burger meat.
