During my visit to Hache I tried another burger. There is a benefit of going with someone else in a burger place because you can both split two burgers and try them. Now I had high expectations because it is very tricky to get truffle right in a burger
How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 8/10
I was surprised by the burger because it was the first one using proper truffle shavings on top and not only oil.
The burger had:
- Minced Beef Steak
- Caramelized Onions
- Gruyere Cheese
- Truffle Oil Aioli
- Truffle shavings
- Brioche Bread
As in the previous Hache burger the meat was high quality but very plain in taste. It was lacking spices to boost the beef taste. But in the case of this burger this was a slight positive since the truffle was a bigger part of the taste and merged well with the plain beef taste. It could of still used more spices but the taste was better than the previous experience.
The caramelized onions helped with sweetness but the flavour rather lost in the truffle.
The Gruyere stuck me as a really nice choice for the burger. The nuttiness and the distinctive taste wer eboth enchancing and distinctive to the entire burger.
The truffle oil alioli and the truffle shavings were the centerpice of this burger as the name suggests. And combining that taste with the cheese and the beef was really well executed. That is until you get to the pieces of truffle that overpower everything else in your mouth although were still pretty tasty.
Everything was nicely rounded up by the brioche which was executed perfectly. A bit less truffle and a bit more spices that could of been a perfect burger.
Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 7/10
It is a place with a great burger selection. They have rotating burgeres nice selection of drinks including an amazing IPA I had for the first time. The presentation of the burgers is great and so is the service. It looks like a more “fancy” burger joint.
Quirkiness level of the experience? – 7//10
Nice burger join and it is not every day that you eat truffles on a burger
