I had a small break from burgers and I had to catch up. Going out before a metal concert I found a nice burger place in Camden Town. As I entered I saw all the posters and comments on the wall with recommendations from different culture magazines so I was excited to give those burgers a try

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 8/10

The burger had an interesting icon on the menu, it was a dome. So I was very pleasently surprised when the burger was served with a  smoke filled dome that looked amazing and encahcned the “Le Fume” experience.

Size: Large

The burger had:

  • Minced Beef Steak
  • Smoked Bacon
  • Caramelized Onions
  • Gruyere Cheese
  • Coleslaw
  • Brioche Bread

As usual lets start with the meat. Even though it wasn’t easily understandable if you are getting burger or steak later on we understood that you basically get a minced steak as a burger. This sounded great especially if it was freshley made. I was expecting a high quality meat for sure. I have to agree that the burger was high quality but I would stay the steak was very lean and didn’t have enough fat as well as there weren’t any spices. Even though the meat was good and fresh when you make a burger you can’t skip on the spices. The taste needs to be enchanced and pushed  and this was simply not done at all. Now the bacon was a different story. It had a great texture, not too soft, not too crispy, exactly how  I like it. It’s smokiness was rounding up the taste and theme of the burger but I would of loved a bit more porky punch coming from it.

The caramelized onions were great and their sweetness was brought to the overall experience but the onions themselves didn’t havethat punchy onion taste, I guess that is up for taste I prefer it there but not a biggie. They were cooked well and suited the meatiness.

The Gruyere was a good choice of cheese, the tangyness made it stand out as long as you didn’t bite through too much of bacon. Together with the colelsaw it brough more fattyness to the burger. The coleslaw provided that extra crunchiness through a bite which was a nice touch of texture.

The jewel of the burger I would say was the brioche. This little piece of bread was perfect. Crispy on the outside soft on the inside lightly sweet and toasted.

This was a fairly simple (excluding the smoky dome) and not to soggy burger and I can see a lot of my friends loving their plain taste however although good they were far from perfect.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 7/10

It is a place with a great burger selection. They have rotating burgeres nice selection of drinks including an amazing IPA I had for the first time. The presentation of the burgers is great and so is the service. It looks like a more “fancy” burger joint.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 8//10

Not every day you get a burger served in a smoky dome so  I have to give props to that. The recipe and how it was all brought together was very well made.
