Coming to Burger and Lobster  meant I had to try as many burgers as possible and of course I had to try the signature lobster burger. Being the crazy £22 and using premium ingredients it was a rare experience. I was very surprised especially after the first burger I tried there

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 8.5/10

This is certainly not a simple burger and is  much more about the recipe and the balance of the ingredients. I was happy with the outcome

Size: Large

The burger had:

  • 5oz Nebraskan Beef Patty
  • Lobster
  • Brie
  • Truffle and Tarragon mayo
  • Fennel
  • Chinese cabbage

From the previous Burger and Lobster review it was obvious that I wasn’t a huge fan of the beef patty. The lack of flavour and spices was obvious fault, however this has been a feature for this burger. If the beef didn’t have a lighter flavour, then the lobster would have been non existent in the pallet. But now there was a nice balance where you could surf and turf between the two flavours. Congrats on turning the negative into a positive but still I’m expecting top notch meat from a burger especially in this price. The lobster was tasty and fresh and provided the surf part of the equation but I’m not sure how it would be done if the beef was punchy.

Talking about turf, lets talk about the centerpiece in my personal opinion of this burger -the truffle mayo. This is one of the best uses of truffle oil I have ever tasted in my life. It is very easy to go overboard with it but here it was perfect. It was the flavour that was standing out yet binding everything together – the beef, the lobster, the brie, the bread. It was a very well made and I absolutely loved it.

The brie was a great choice here since it wasn’t too pungent in terms of smell and taste yet it was a distinct part of the bite and combined with the truffle flavour it was a small masterpiece that complimented the rest of the burger. I was surprised how well it goes with lobster.

The fennel and the cabbage were providing that crunchiness to the equation but were very lost in terms of flavor which is expected considering the rest of the heavy ingredients.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 6/10

It is a very nice place, they have great coctails, a nice diner like atmosphere for dining. The lobsters are tasty and you have a large choice of sides. Sadly the fries were not the best but quite good non the less.

I had a nice IPA, I would of loved a bit more of choice.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 10/10

Eating a £22 burger with lobster and truffle oil as flavours is certainly a one time rare experience.
