So last month GBK had a special burger, I always tend to put a review for them out after the offer has finished. Next time I’m going to try it in the beginning so the review can have a better purpose.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 7.5/10

This is the first themed Indian style burger I’ve had outside of BabaG . So I will be referencing it. I love the idea of themed burgers as you know because they encapsulate the bite of a culture.

The burger had:

  • Lamb Patty with Indian Spices
  • Samosa aloo
  • Mango Chutney
  • Cucumber
  • Raita
  • Poppadom
  • Sesame Seed Bun

The patty was great. The meat was tender and well made. I’ve startred loving more and more lamb burgers. It has a very specific taste that is very easy to balance. Almost all cultures have lamb meals made with different ingredients you can integrate into a burger. My only critique was the indian spices, they weren’t as well balanced and there was a permanent curry and cummin in the after taste.

The Samosa and the poppadom provide the great crunchyness that almost every burger needs as a texture. They were delicious and nicely spiced. The potatoe in the samosa was soft and filling, a nice play with the textures. My only critique is I would of preffered to have more from these ingredients since they weren’t present in every bite.

I love raita just because the yogurt base goes so well with lamb. Add the cucumber and you get a standard dressing for lamb you can see in the eastern side of Europe. I would of preffered a bit more of it to balance out better the heavy spices since the aftertaste was covering everything

Mango chutney for this burger is like onion chutney for beef and cheddar burger. It is a perfect fit. That sweetness was felts through out each bite it was going to be great if it was a bit more spicy.

I’ve started to prefer sesame seed bun for burgers like that compared to brioches. They are a much better taste for those ingredients and lightly toasted the sesame seed add even more flavour.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 7/10

The fries at GBK are always great and you do have a nice selection of sides for any foodie so I do recommend it.

Beer of choice: Brewdog Punk IPA

IPAs in my humble opinion are the best drink for a burger since they help clear your pallet and are a great refreshments. Brewdog’s Punk is certainly a light staple that will help with that.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 8/10

Themed burger with a good recipe and a different twist from what I’ve had so far. A great burger
