It is nice to come back to places I know and compare the burgers now that I have more “experience”. Honest tends to be a consistently good chain however now I have slightly different view on things.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 7/10

You can never go wrong with an honest burger but I realized you can’t get the exceptional experience there unless you try one of the speicals. Things are good but not perfect

The size: Medium

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty
  • Cheddar
  • Red Onion Relish
  • Smoky Bacon
  • Bacon
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Brioche Bun

The meat I tend to like cooked medium, however this time it was slightly rare in the middle. This is not a killer for me but it is not what you expect. In addition, although the meat quality is good and the burgers are juicy in the last months I’ve tried plenty of burgers which have the beef flavour enhanced either by spices or just because it was such a nice grass-fed beef where that flavour from a plain burger comes from. This is not really the case, the taste can be lost in between the other ingredients. The bacon was tasty and smoky and wasn’t dominating but rather complementary to the beef and cheese

The Cheddar was very good on this burger. You could feel it with every bite and went well with the rest of the ingredients. That combination between red onion relish and a good cheddar is simply amazing, I will never get sick of it. The relish was sweet and slightly acidic which made it perfect. The pickle pushed that acidity in the right direction for sure so great balance of the ingredients

Lettuce was nice and crunchy and was present with its texture. However, I would put more if you want it to act as a pallet cleanser. The tomatoes in the UK are sub-par in the majority of cases so I would rather not have them then get that unsatisfying tomato flavour.

The brioche was fresh and wrapped everything together nicely.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 7/10

Potatoes are one of the best among burger chains I’ve tried and they have a nice selection of drinks.

I recommend: Fourpure Shape Shifter it is one of the best IPAs I’ve tried in a while it has a distinct taste and it goes great with the burger. I would go with this one with most of the burgers there.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 4//10

Standard burger in a standard burger joint.
