I was challenged by a good friend of mine to make a burger. Hence sat down an though of a new recipe to try. The idea was very successful but the execution was lacking. The recipe was inspired by typically Spanish ingredients

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 7.0/10

I wanted to make the patty the centerpiece of the burger. But for me that means bringing out different flavors from it. I also wanted to learn to make aioli hence this burger was a big experiment

Size: Large

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty ( parsley, onions, chilli peppers, chorizo sausage
  • Manchego Cheese
  • Rocket Spinach Watercress Salad
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Garlic Jalapeno Aioli
  • Sesame Roll

This is the best burgers I’ve made and it tasted really good. The concept was very successful and I’m very proud of that. The parsley was bringing in that freshness that was creating a contrast within every bite. You could always sense the beef flavour strongly after that together with the onions that accompany it. The chillies were adding that very light spiciness and for the lovers of spicy I would put a bit more since the other ingredients especially the parsley cover up the spice. The chorizo was a centerpiece since its flavour was distinct in every bite yet wasn’t dominating any of the other tastes but rather balancing them out. I really loved this recipe and going to repeat it with an even better execution

The manchego was for sure the right choice of cheese it simply goes well with beef and chorizo. Its oakiness and smokiness balances well in a bite. Sadly it wasn’t very matured hence for the cheese lovers like me it was slightly underwhelming so next time I’m going to grab the stronger cheddar

The salad was lovely I prefer greens with taste than greens for texture and this was a great salad to go with any burger. The cherry tomatoes were bringing in that sweetness that light tomato taste. I thought they were the right choice as they were helping to cleanse the pallet amid the bite.

Sesame roll was nice but the bread wasn’t the highest quality so next time I’m gonna go for a better one. Toasted it brought a very nice crunchyness and flavour.

The bit that I messed up was the aioli. I added too much garlic, thankfully me and my girlfriend love garlic so it wasn’t as big of an issue for us but even then I would have preferred a lighter note from that ingredient. The jalapeno was sadly not felt at all. Lost in between the strong garlic there wasn’t any of the relish acidity feel in the burger and I would have loved to balance it out with the other ingredients. Next time maybe just put them with the tomatoes.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 11/10

My girlfriend built me a bar on the balcony so enjoying the burger with a nice view makes home even better.

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 7//10

I love experimenting with food and I’m extra happy when they work out. I haven’t seen this anywhere else so I was really happy that I managed to pull it off
