So as I promised a recipe for the homemade burger is coming. This is one of the few times I’ve tried making my own burger. I do love to cook so this was a nice experience I plan on repeating. It would be cool to create a second part of the blog where I talk about the burger recipes I experiment with.

So I don’t have grill or grill pan. But I have a good pan that I can also put in the oven and that is all you need.

First the ingredients for the burger:

  • 500g Minced Beef (5% fat)
  • 1/2 Large Onion
  • 2 Eggs
  • 3 teaspoons Dijon Mustard
  • 3 teaspoons Pepper
  • 3 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 5 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 cup of Bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil

We start by dicing the onion and adding it to the meat in a bowl. Add the eggs, oil and all the condiments. Put the bread crumbs and mix all up. You may want to add more bread crumbs if the mixture is too soggy. After you’ve mixed everything well using your hands create 4 burgers that are not to thick.

  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • Thyme
  • Emmental Cheese

Heat the pan. Put the butter, garlic cloves and thyme in between the burgers. Cook  for 1-2 minutes on each side until the side of the burger gets seared and sealed. Put 2-3 slices of emmental cheese on top of the burgers. Take the pan and put it into a preheated 200 C oven for 3-6 minutes depending on how well you want the burger cooked.

  • Mayonnaise
  • Dijon Mustard
  • Red Onion Chutney
  • Pickles

Cut a burger bun in half and toast them on each side in toaster or the oven until they become golden. Put a mustard-mayo mix on each side. Add the pickles. Take the burger and put it on top and finish it off with the chutney on top of the cheese.

Voila, you have a tasty burger. Tell me if you liked it.
