When in Edinburgh, eat Bread Meats Bread. Even when it is slightly unsuccessful Burger with a Korean twist.

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 6.5/10

This burger was certainly something you don’t try every day. The kimchi poutine in the venue is amazing but somehow the burger didn’t have the same success.

Size: Large

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty
  • American Cheese
  • Fried Egg
  • Spicy Kimchi
  • Sriracha Mayo
  • Lettuce

This is the first time I haven’t been excited about the beef patty. Not sure if it was the combination of ingredients or the patty itself but something was missing. It was still a good quality meat but it didn’t have the spices to push through that beef flavour and it was very plain.

This was one of those times where cheese is put on the burger for the sake of it. It isn’t typical for BMB but this time the cheese was barely felt, there was no punch except for the bites with less kimchi.

Let’s talk about the kimchi. When served with a lot of sauces in a poutine it is great soft and adds that tasty sour punch, In this case it was cold and was missing some of the flavour. The spiciness in combination with the sriracha mayo adds the right amount of hot.

The egg is an interesting add to the recipe and in combination with the kimchi it goes in an experimental direction but it was way to plain for my taste. I would add few spices or cook it with a more flavourful oil.

The burger is not bad you can taste the end idea of the recipe. But the execution was certainly sub par. Even good burger chains have not so great burgers.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 9/10

Bread Meats Bread is a burger joint that doesn’t offer only burgers. If you have a large stomach like myself I would always recommend grabbing a small poutine with the burger. You simply can’t go wrong and it is a unique side that you don’t see elsewhere.
Regarding the beer lovers I fell in love with Cesar Augustus which is a Lagger/IPA and it really manages to combine best of both worlds and refresh your pallet. I strongly recommend it.

Beer of choice: Caesar Augustus

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 7//10

I can’t say this is the weirdest burger I’ve eaten especially in BMB but the place is different from your everyday burger joints.
