Shakeshack is a place I’ve been called to review for a while. So as I was looking for lunch in the area there it was. A greasy burger is always welcome. It isn’t a gourmet burger but one that will satisfy that comfort junk food urge.
How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 5.5/10
Shakeshack in my mind is very similar to FiveGuys as a burger chain. You don’t get a gourmet burger but and you shouldn’t expect the quality of the ingredients to be similar to one. It is the quality fast food place.
The burger had:
- Beef Patty
- Shroom Burger
Since my Scottish trip I’ve gotten used to good quality beef and this one although good is certainly not among the top patties I’ve tried. It was the best thing about the burger it was well seasoned and juicy. I missed that punchy beef taste.
The mushroom patty is effectively a deep fried portbello mushroom. I love mushrooms and I love them on burger but it is easy to screw up. The deep frying really removed that flavour from the mushroom and you could only feel it if that was the only thing in your bite. The best thing about it was the chewy texture and the batter was tasty and was giving most of the taste
Maybe because of the lack of punch from the other ingredients but the cheddar had a strong flavour and was well melted. It really went well with the burger and wasn’t there just for the recipe.
As in most locations in the UK the tomato wasn’t any good. It is bland on the taste and has only part of the punch a good fresh tomato has. The lettuce provided that nice texture and went really well with the sauce so props to that.
The ShakSauce was a hit it had a mayo base, spices and something else I couldn’t figure out really. It went well with the rest of the ingredients
Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 5/10
A regular burger joint. The fries were amazing though so I recommend them. They had a good choice of milkshakes for the lovers but the beer choice is not what I expect from a burger joint. But I have to say that the recommended ShakeShak beer is not half bad.
Quirkiness level of the experience? – 3//10
I can’t say there was something quirky about the experience
