Before I started my quest for the perfect burger and I was still randomly trying burger joints Porky was one of the first and really good burgers I’ve tried. Decided to go back to give it a full fledged review. Sadly I didn’t find it as great whether the current chef did something bad or I didn’t have anything to compare it to back in the day, I don’ know. Non the less it is a pretty decent burger!

How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 6.5/10

While I was trying an old favorite we ordered this one to split. It looked like a heart attack in a bun and it felt like it. If you were there for a gluttonous burger that is it if you were there for an exquisite taste, maybe not

The size: Large

The burger had:

  • Beef Patty
  • Bacon
  • Beef Ribs
  • Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce
  • Slaw
  • Tomatoes
  • Deep Fried Pickles
  • White Bun

It is all about the meat and the possibility of heart attack. Similar to the other burger I had the beef patty was a decent one however you couldn’t really fell much of the taste in between all the other strong flavors.
The beef ribs is what really added to the beef taste and that was the overwhelming taste in the burger. Porky’s are famous for the BBQ and they did deliver but I can’t keep thinking how well could it be if it is properly balanced. The BBQ sauce was what really made it special but because of the ingredients it really felt like you are eating ribs in a bun more than a burger.
As you can imagine at a place like this the bacon was top notch but again it was it and the ribs that made the whole experience not the burger.

Tomato was added for the supposed complimentary flavor but when it is among as much meat it is a thin slice it is barely noticeable. if you had a nice thick slice of a good quality tomato it would of worked perfectly.

I liked the slaw in terms of the texture, it added that crispiness to the bite and the acidity was trying to balance out all the other flavors but I’ve certainly had better ones.

I respect the fact there was no cheese in the burger. If you won’t feel it, don’t put it, good choice.

The deep fried pickles were an interesting add. It really pushes your arteries to their limits. I can’t say it was the tastiest ingredient but it had its specific heavy taste that went very well with the rest of the massacre. Sadly when you deep fry the pickle you loose from its acidity but somehow it worked.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 6/10

The service is quick. The fires are really good and you will always leave Porky’s BBQ stuffed. The selection of burgers is decent but they do have a rotating burger ( expect a review of one of these soon ) The selection of beers is average, sadly there weren’t great pale ales to combo with my burger s
