How tasty is the Motherf*#$&r? – 8/10

The burger had:

  • Irish beef patty
  • Blue Cheese
  • Tomato Chutney
  • Crispy bacon
  • Bourbon Mayo
  • Onions
  • Tomato

OK so overall I’m coming back for a burger. I would say this is the best burger joint in Sofia that I’ve tried so far. There is Street Chefs, however, their menu is stale and lately, the quality has been lower so I would say Boom! Burgers are my current favourites in the area.

The burger was delicious but there was, in my opinion, obvious improvements to the recipe.

The beef patty was nice but it was there for the meatiness and not the taste. There weren’t any spices to enhance its flavour so it ended up more on the plain side. The other part that I’m wondering is why you are using Irish beef in one of the countries with highest food quality in Europe. I would like to see a bit more of a Bulgarian take on the beef patty.

The onions and tomato were amazing. If you have seen me criticize the taste of a tomato in a Burger it is because I’ve been comparing it to tastes like these. Vegetables here on the Balkans are simply better and they taste lovely.

I would say one of the bigger downfalls of the burger is the choice of the chutney. It wasn’t bad but in my opinion, a red onion chutney would have added the same level of sweetness but balance itself out much better with the blue cheese and the beef patty.

The final “beef” (get it ) I have with the burger would be the cheese. Not that it was bad but it had a very strong aftertaste that wasn’t really smoothing out or balancing the overall flavour when you finish the bite. I would recommend something like the Blue Stilton Cheese. It packs a lot of flavours but it is less punchy and very smooth.

The bourbon mayo was nice although I would add a bit more bourbon to it to enhance the southern taste.

All and all I loved the burger it was a step in the right direction.

Burger joint venue and overall experience? – 7/10

I think this is one of the best burger joints in Sofia and the reason for that is that they have rotating burgers. So every month you go there you can have a different experience and to add to that the fires were AMAZING, they were just like granny used to make them and had that taste which simply sent me down memory lane.

In addition, they also have a great selection of beers to go with your burgers and even a recommendation list which I find useful although I don’t agree with it. For this burger, I would recommend the “White Stork” pale ale. It is amazing very well balanced beer who’s bitterness will complement the fairly sweet burger

Quirkiness level of the experience? – 4/10

In terms of quirkiness, I don’t think there is anything special. They are just doing what other good joints are doing in the world:
Good menu
Rotating burgers
Rotating beers

I highly recommend it.
